This issue of FOCUS covers the basics of conducting a traceback investigation, a process used to determine the production and distribution chain of a vehicle implicated as the source of an outbreak. It will identify when it is appropriate to conduct a traceback investigation and provide examples of recent outbreak investigations that have used traceback investigations.
